Morning all!
I haven't posted here for ages...
I have recently been inspired to look at my ancients again forsaking wrg and trying some older rules- probably Slim's circa 1972 for the moment. I am enjoying the new ( if that is a suitable expression for it) Parum Pugna blog and it has got me thinking of an enemy for my 1st century Romans.
What is in order is a small city state ( a little like Emesa/Edessa ) with loads of light horse, infantry archers,a few cataphracts, temple guards and camel caravans. Not to mention factions with their own agendas and political /religious divisions and dissent I am  allowing my mind to travel eastwards, back in time and space and armed with the Tony Bath's campaign guide to generate characters I will let you know where I get to here. The Roman Eagles are on the march the City State must organise her forces - let the games, sorry planning begin...
